Job Description

Veterans Engineering is hiring Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) to provide essential support to our nursing staff in a variety of healthcare settings. As a CNA, you will play a vital role in patient care by assisting with daily living activities and ensuring a high level of comfort and dignity for our patients. Due to the nature of our work as a federal consulting organization, employees may be expected to handle Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and must adhere to applicable safeguarding and compliance requirements. 

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary
  • Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates, ensuring accurate documentation in electronic health record (EHR) systems Support medication administration under supervision, following strict aseptic techniques and HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality
  • Provide specialized care for patients with complex needs such as dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or behavioral health conditions
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive patient care in settings like medical-surgical units, emergency departments, or post-acute care facilities
  • Maintain infection control protocols and ensure adherence to safety standards across all patient interactions
  • Assist with medical procedures such as catheter care and phlebotomy when trained and certified to do so

Requirements

  • Active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in the state of practice
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic CPR and First Aid certification preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to perform Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, toileting, grooming, feeding, ambulation, and repositioning
  • Proficiency in obtaining and accurately documenting vital signs, height/weight, intake and output, and basic patient observations
  • Experience with safe patient handling, including transfers, mobility assistance, and use of gait belts and mechanical lifts
  • Ability to recognize and promptly report changes in patient condition to licensed nursing staff
  • Knowledge of and adherence to infection control practices, including standard, contact, droplet, and airborne precautions Strong understanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality requirements
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to enter, retrieve, and update patient information in electronic health record (EHR) systems
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Physical ability to meet job demands, including standing for extended periods, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds with assistance

Travel Requirement

Travel to client locations is required for this position and may vary based on project needs.
