This role is ideal for a highly detail-oriented accounting professional with strong real estate experience, advanced financial reporting skills, and hands-on expertise with Yardi. You will serve as a key contributor to the accounting team while supporting leadership and mentoring junior staff.

About Arcan Capital

Founded in 2016, Arcan Capital is a rapidly growing company specializing in the acquisition and management of apartment communities across the Southeastern United States. With a team of over 100 employees—and continued expansion ahead—you will be an integral part of our success. We foster a collaborative, performance-driven culture and are committed to professional development, operational excellence, and delivering value to our residents and stakeholders.

Job Summary

You will lead month-end close processes, prepare and review financial statements, perform detailed reconciliations, and ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls.

You will work closely with the Controller while partnering cross-functionally with asset management and property operations teams. This role requires a high level of accuracy, analytical thinking, and the ability to identify and resolve financial discrepancies at both the macro and granular levels.

  • Produce and analyze monthly financial statements, including variance analysis against budget and prior periods.
  • Perform and review bank reconciliations, cash activity, and general ledger reconciliations with a strong focus on accuracy and detail.
  • Monitor property-level financial performance and proactively identify trends, discrepancies, and areas for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies and procedures.
  • Support internal and external audits, including preparation of schedules and documentation.
  • Utilize Yardi property management software for accounting, reporting, and data analysis.
  • Collaborate with property management and asset management teams to resolve accounting issues and improve processes.
  • Assist in training, mentoring, and reviewing the work of property accountants and junior staff.
  • Contribute to process improvements and system enhancements to increase efficiency and reporting accuracy.

Qualifications & Skills

  • 4–6+ years of real estate or property management accounting experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and property-level accounting principles.
  • Advanced experience with Yardi property management software required.
  • Proven ability to prepare and review financial statements and manage month-end close processes.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to analyze and reconcile complex financial data.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and experience mentoring or reviewing junior staff.
  • High level of integrity, accountability, and professionalism.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • Prior experience as a Senior Accountant, Property Accountant, or similar role required.
